The Hip Hop Nutcracker

I saw the Hip Hop Nutcracker yesterday. It was amazing. I highly recommend it. There's another performance at the NJPAC tonight and then a follow up in Brooklyn. Kurtis Blow tore it up, and the break dancers were exceptional.

I wasn't expecting the crowd size that came out for it. Almost 2,000 people were at the performance last night up in Harlem. And the NJPAC is almost completely sold out of all 3,500 seats.

All age groups were there. 5-year-olds were trying to break dance by the stage. High schoolers were there and dates. College students were paying homage to Kurtis, and so were their parents and their parents' parents. I've never seen anything quite like it. Typically a concert or performance speaks to one particular demographic.

This seemed to be for everyone.
