Neoprene Options

We're going to try working with some spandex/neoprene options over the next few seasons. We've seen a bit of this come and go in the market (here, here, here). But, we're not seeing it used much with full leather components, which is what we're going for.

Neoprene is one of those ultra-functional products that's a bit like tofu; it takes on the quality of whatever's around it. Some of the above neoprene styles seem a bit... less-than interesting our opinion. The Nike style is cool, but more can be done with it. We've got our design team incorporating it in to a few areas of the sneaker where it can add a comfort element while retaining the high aesthetic of the surrounding A1 leather.

We may even try using it as part of the sock insert. Maybe rising up through the ankle, so that you get the added padding, rather than it just being a different piece of fabric along the shell. I think it makes more sense this way-- it's functional, so why not put it to use?
